Seamus Coleman helped Everton to a 3-1 win against Middlesbrough on Saturday evening.

Three minutes before half time, the Everton right-back surged forward, took a pass from Romelu Lukaku and hit a low shot beyond Victor Valdes.

After the game, the Ireland captain was asked about Dundalk's adventures in Europe this season.

Speaking to Premier League Live on Today FM, it was a question which the Donegal man was delighted to answer.

I'm glad you asked that question because I feel the Irish league doesn't get enough credit. Finishing a Premier League game and being asked that question is great because they've been brilliant, they've been the best team in Ireland for the last couple of years.

They just missed out on the Champions League and showed that they play good football. They were down to 10 men the last day and they continued to do what they've done. They got the goal so I'm delighted for that.

Coleman feels that Daryl Horgan - in particular - is a player who could receive a call-up from Martin O'Neill in the future.

That's a question for the manager. But I know there's a couple of players that have done well. Especially the left winger Daryl Horgan. I know the manager [Martin O'Neill] has been to watch him a few times.

The Europa League is a great platform to show what they can do. It can be difficult to pick a player based on League of Ireland performances and that's based on someone that's played there. But now that they're playing in the Europa League and playing against top teams - why not?

It's a big step up but they look to be very fit. The manager has them very fit, so that's half the battle. They've got some very good technical players and hopefully they can do well.
