While it often seems as if Jurgen Klopp has the Premier League trademark on Charisma, this does a disservice to West Ham manager Slaven Bilic. Bilic was probably the best most entertaining pundit at Euro 2016, adding to a considerable reputation first built in knocking England out of qualifying for Euro 2008.
Now at West Ham, Bilic is doing a cracking job, and has been embraced by West Ham fans to a degree unfathomable to his predecessor, Sam Allardyce. Ahead of the return of the Premier League, Bilic has give a brilliant and wide-ranging interview to the Daily Mail, in which he touches upon many subjects, including England's prospects under Sam Allardyce.
His response was typically entertaining:
The players will respect him. He’s a big man. He’s Big Sam. You see him on the television, he fills the screen. You are looking for the board with the sponsors names behind. Where have they gone? You can’t see them.
‘Guardiola, he’s not a big guy. It doesn’t matter, he’s Guardiola, the players will listen. And when Sam comes in, they will listen, too. He will get his point across because he’s imposing — he’s a guy who makes you pay attention.
Brilliant.
