Over the years, many teams have adopted a 'play it out from the back' style, with varying levels of success. Some, like Barcelona and Bayern Munich, play it to perfection.

Others, like Rangers, don't.

After already being embarrassed by Progres Niedercorn in the Europa League, the Gers were preparing for another Scottish Premiership season by taking on St.Johnstone in a behind closed doors friendly.

That didn't prevent social media from watching the worst attempt at playing it out from the back in history.

Despite it being in front of an empty stadium, one fan managed to find a video broadcast of the match. Which led to this clip of Rangers' disastrous effort.

The Saints tweet about the goal did not do the mistake justice.

It was the only goal of the game which saw Niko Kranjcar apparently sent off for 'screaming at the referee'. Not the best day for the blue half of Glasgow.

Goalscorer Callum Hendry is the son of Scottish legend Colin Hendry who featured in the hugely successful Star Sixes legends tournament last week.
