Stephen Kenny Announces Ireland Squad For Opening Nations League Matches
By Mark Farrelly Updated

Stephen Kenny has announced his 23-man squad for Ireland's upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Bulgaria and Finland.

Jayson Molumby and Adam Idah have both received their first senior international call-ups, while Harry Arter and James McCarthy are welcomed back into the fold. There's no place for Jack Byrne or West Brom's Dara O'Shea in defence, with Shane Duffy, John Egan and Daragh Lenihan the only centre backs selected.

Meanwhile, we've got 405 attackers, although David McGoldrick will only link up with the squad for the Finland game and Michael Obafemi misses out altogether.

The full Ireland squad is:

Forwards: Callum Robinson, Callum O’Dowda, James McClean, Aaron Connolly, Adam Idah, Troy Parrott, Shane Long, David McGoldrick (Finland game)

The Irish team is away to Bulgaria on Thursday 3 September in their Nations League opener before a home match against Finland on Sunday 6 September. Both games will be played behind closed doors. The all-important Euro 2020 2021 play-off tie against Slovakia will be played on Tuesday 8 October.
