Footage has emerged of Ajax midfielder Steven Berghuis striking out at an opposition fan, for an alleged racist remark towards one of his teammates.

Reports are stating that following Ajax's 3-1 loss to FC Twente earlier today, one of their fans called Ajax striker Brian Brobbey 'cancer blackie'.

The footage begins immediately as Berghuis leans over a railing beside his team bus and strikes out at a fan, although it is unclear whether he made contact or not.

The 31-year-old Berghuis moved from Feyenoord to Ajax in 2021, and he has also won 45 caps for the Netherlands.

The result saw Ajax finish in third place in the Eredivisie, with Feyenoord taking home the title.

There has been no information as of yet whether Berghuis will be punished or not, and it has not been confirmed what exactly was said by the FC Twente supporter.
