Watch: Jake Humphrey Goads Steven Gerrard About That Slip On BT Sport

It has been a trying day for Steven Gerrard. Following the delight at his confirmed return to Liverpool yesterday, he had to accept that Liverpool's title challenge has perished on the rocks of today's 3-2 defeat at home to Swansea.

After his former team somehow blew the chance to close the gap on leaders Chelsea, Gerrard meditated on the ramifications for a "stunned" dressing room:

It's going to be very difficult now, they've left themselves a lot of work to do.

[It is] a 10-point gap if Chelsea win tomorrow, it's looking very difficult.

Gerrard wasn't at Anfield for Liverpool's implosion: instead he was on punditry duty for BT Sport in Manchester, as City drew 2-2 with Spurs.

After the game, the panel spoke about the title race, and pondered whether it was over, as Chelsa can extend their lead at the top to nine points with win at home to lowly Hull City tomorrow.

During the course of the conversation, Jake Humphrey of BT Sport, a TV anchor becoming increasingly well-known for his indulgence of b****r, decided to drop in a reference to the darkest moment of Steven Gerrard's career: 'Chelsea, have they got a slip in them?'.

He even came back to it to reinforce the fact that he had made the joke. Gerrard dealt with it reasonably well, although clearly didn't enjoy it.

It's Gerrard's second awkward moment on BT in the matter of a few days. He really didn't appreciate Neil Warnock's dig at the people of Liverpool earlier in the week, either.
