It's been a busy week - not just in sport. We realise that life goes on, and that sometimes you miss out on some of the better stories of the week.

Never fear, we've got you covered with the best stories of the week - with a general theme this week - Emotion.

Emotions ran high across most sports, with huge expressions of joy from the amazing Irish medal winners at the Special Olympics, to excitement from events to come in Ireland to even sadness and nostalgia.

Team Ireland have had a wonderful time at the Special Olympics. A huge 70 medals have been won so far by Irish athletes, and the amazing reaction of 14-year-old Dearbhail Savage when she found out that she won was magical.

This emotion was in contrast to this young Barcelona fan, when she met her hero Pedro and he failed to reassure her that he was staying with the club. It's fantastic to see fans care so much about their clubs, and this was some genuine emotion.

Some of the better original posts by Balls writers tugged on our nostalgic heart strings, especially with this throw back to the heydays of Soccer AM, while the most popular story during the week was a look at the last Irish international from each county. There are five counties that haven't had any Irish internationals, can you guess which ones?

It's great to see the Women's FA Cup final in Wembley for the first time - with two Irish women playing. Galway's Niamh Fahey will be up against Fiona O'Sullivan. They will join the likes of Kerry and Dublin GAA who have also played in Wembley.

It was a big week in Irish UFC, as Joseph Duffy was announced as the headline for October's UFC event. Duffy also teased a massive future fight in Croke Park, but the main talking point was the ambush awaiting John Kavanagh on TV3. MMA Fans were not happy:

The big UFC fight this weekend features Ronda Rousey, who has dedicated her performance to the departed WWE legend Rowdy Roddy Piper.

An earlier intriguing story from the week involved Brock Lesnar and the LGBT community. From Wrestlezone, apparently an idea was pitched to the WWE to make heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar's character gay:

Solomon pitched the idea directly to Stephanie McMahon, explaining to her that the character would “blow fans away”, as he would be a hyper-masculine, top babyface who would reveal himself as gay. WWE felt the character would get a lot of support from the gay community, as well as praise from the media for WWE’s “progressive character.”

It's been a good week for Irish boxing too, with confirmation that Katie Taylor will be on the undercard for Andy Lee, and this fantastic ranking of Irish boxing prospects proved very popular and controversial

And finally, what I found to be the most interesting and fascinating story from a sport I don't follow. Wilmer Flores who plays baseball with the New York Mets had quite a week. On Wednesday, he was reduced to tears whilst playing after he heard a rumour that he was about to be traded from the team. He got a huge reception from the crowd, only for the trade to fall through and Flores remained a Met.

The story gets even better, when Flores proved to be the hero for the Mets on Friday, hitting the winning walk off home run to an amazing ovation from the fans.
