As all Irish football fans are aware, the Puskas award celebrating the best goal of the year is a public vote.

This leaves the award open to canvassing, which can lead to the incorrect decision being made. Such an injustice has occured this year.

Leo Messi did not win for this incredible goal against Athletic Bilbao:
