We are expecting news very soon on the new Ireland jersey for Euro 2016, but while there may be a commemorative embroidered 1916 centenary logo, we don't have any real details as to how it will look.
So let's wildly speculate.
Down the years Ireland have had some lovely jerseys, along with some absolute shockers as well, so we've had a look back for a few that we'd love to see given a nod to in the new design, as well as some current efforts from Umbro that may be likely templates for the Ireland Euro 2016 jersey.
2002 World Cup
An iconic shirt that evokes memories of Robbie's late show vs ze Germans and Matty Holland's daisy-cutter against Cameroon. The simple design was loved by everyone and they couldn't keep enough stock in the weeks leading up to the World Cup.
What is promising in this regard is the 2016 jersey of Estudiantes la Plata, which features a more modern take on a very similar look.
It's not uncommon to see similar templates used by brands with different teams, so it could be an option.
Euro 2004 Qualifiers
One of the most underrated Ireland jerseys in recent memory, it was again simple, but the Ireland flag stripes on the shoulder were a great touch.
It's always good to get the green, white, and orange in there which we haven't seen as much recently.
West Ham 2015/16
One of the very finest jerseys out there this season is made by Umbro, and while the idea of white sleeves is out of the question, Ireland have rocked a two tone green job on the sleeves before.
Euro 2012 Training Jersey
The only instance I can recall of a training jersey blowing the match shirt out of the water was also one of the few positive things to come out of Euro 2012.
It's perfect.
Atletic Bilbao 2011/12
One out of left-field here, but this is one of my favourite ever jerseys and I always thought it would look fantastic with Irish colours. Bilbao picked Manchester United apart in the Europa League wearing this, and while that's not much of an achievement these days, it still left an impression.
Someone on the Foot.ie forums actually mocked this up a few years back, so we can get an idea as to how it would look:
With a bit better blending and natural looking material it could be sensational, but it's unlikely we will ever see anything like this sadly.
So now we play the waiting game and hope to God it doesn't look awful. There will be a sea of green everywhere the team goes in France so hopefully the performances on the pitch make the jersey memorable regardless of how it looks.
