Irish Football Fans,

As luck would have it, your national team will play a UEFA Euro 2012 match next June in Gdansk. I would like to assure you that here in Gdansk we are very happy that fate has so decided !

Our Nations have a lot in common. The Irish and Poles are people who battled long and hard for their freedom and independence. Even our national anthems tell the same story about fighting for liberation from oppression. The colour of Ireland is green. It is also the colour of our local football team – Lechia.

I am proud that next summer we will be hosting the Irish team and the legions of fans from your beautiful country. I am certain that the citizens of Gdansk will be fervently supporting your team !

I hope that you will admire our Gdansk stadium – a drop of amber cast in the city. I also believe that after the match, you will enjoy sitting in one of the cafés by the Motnawa River and sipping some tasty Polish beer as you watch the yachts majestically moving along the water.

Come to Gdansk!

Let Trap’s Green Army flood our city!

We will receive you according to our Polish custom – “my home is your home”!

Pawe? Adamowicz

Mayor of the City of Gda?sk
