There is bad news for Manchester United fans this morning, as reported in The Telegraph, with it emerging that Real Madrid are prepared to wait it until summer 2016 to sign David de Gea. That represents a nightmare scenario for the British club, the 'keepers contract will have run its course by that stage, leaving United with no return on their investment.

With United not likely to want to let de Gea depart for nothing, he may leave the club next summer should a new contract not be signed, allowing United to recoup some cash on the player. United have repeatedly said they are relaxed about de Gea's contract but with this news emerging they will rethink their approach. Iker Casillas has returned to form with the European Champions and with two years on his contract, as well as an able back up in Keylor Navas, they see no need to rush their acquisition of de Gea.

United fans will undoubtedly want the Spaniard to stay, the younger 'keeper has become one of the world's best of late and the thought of him departing for free will not bear thinking about for many fans.
