Thiago Silva Tells A Cracking Story Of When Gattuso Pushed Zlatan Too Far In Training

Gennaro Gattuso is a footballer who divides opinion for sure.

Coupling legitimately excellent defensive midfield play with a genuine love of getting in a scrap, the Italian midfielder constantly pushed the boundaries of what was acceptable on the pitch (and he also played for Rangers, which in many parts is more than enough reason to hate someone), but the general consensus was that you would hate to play against him, but love to play with him. Or at least that is what Andrea Pirlo's book has told us.

But that idea didn't work for Zlatan. No, rather than put up with Gattuso's shit in training, Zlatan did what Zlatan does... Whatever he wants basically.

Current PSG captain and former teammate of both Gattuso and Ibrahimovic at AC Milan, Thiago Silva recently told of a story that still gives him a chuckle to this day, of the time Zlatan dumped Gattuso into a bin for annoying him.

The protagonist of this story is Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

One day, during a training session, Gattuso spent all morning teasing Zlatan. He was provoking him, and Zlatan took it without apparently saying anything. In fact his revenge would come soon after.

Rino and Zlatan met again in the dressing room after training, and Ibra lifted the entire weight of his team-mate, flipped him over and threw him in the bin!

It was crazy, we all started laughing thinking about Gattuso’s face. I swear, I couldn’t stop laughing for a week!

This is not the first time Zlatan has used his martial arts skills to get a message to a teammate, as Rodney Strasser got a rather painful looking kick in the back in AC Milan training once:

And, also in Milan, Antonio Cassano took a swift kick to the face during a post-match interview:

He can look after himself, that Ibrahimovic fella.

Of course, he better not try any of that carry on with the Irish players in France this summer, but it appears his teammates are in bigger danger.
