The argument against the introduction of goal-line technology was that it would widen the chasm between the game at professional level and grassroots level. Football's charm is that the only equipment necessary to have is a ball, and FIFA were reticent to equip the sport at the highest level with technology not available in Sunday League games.

This weekend's Ligue 1 clash between Rennes and Guingamp, however, reminded us that video technology and Sunday League can exist together in comfort, as Moustapha Diallo's goal at the end one of the most gloriously shit moves we have seen in some time was confirmed by goal-line technology. Have a look:
