Two and a half years after he joined Man City as a 14-year-old, Dubliner Tyreke Wilson has been given a four-year contract with the club.

Cherry Orchard, the club from which Wilson joined Man City, confirmed the news via their Facebook page today.

Congratulations to our former player Tyreke Wilson who just signed a new 4 year contract at Manchester City. Tyreke came in at U9's and just went from strength to strength and his commitment and dedication has paid off. Well done Tyreke from everyone at Cherry Orchard FC. Watch this space Pep.

Wilson, a left-back, was part of the Irish U17 side which was knocked out of the European Championships on a penalty shootout by Poland in April of this year.

According to a Man City academy blogger, Wilson is a speedy player who gets forward well from the left-back berth.

Recently Wilson's fellow Dubliner Jack Byrne has been the most notable Irish player to progress through the ranks at Man City. After spending last season on loan at Eredivise side Cambuur, Byrne has been loan to Blackburn for 2016/17.
