The League of Ireland look set to have an unlikely club added to European Competition next season. Dundalk, Cork, Pats and Shamrock Rovers are already in Europe and coud be joined by First Division side UCD AFC.

Ireland is likely to secure an extra Europa League spot due to our high standing in the UEFA Respect Fair Play League table. Ireland currently top the table ahead of the Netherlands and England. Should they stay in the top three come April 30th, and have a ranking above 8.0 points, The Students will enter the competition. UCD finished third in the fair play table, behind Dundalk and Cork City, however with both winning a European spot based on their league position, UCD would take the additional spot offered by UEFA.

UCD were relegated to the First Division last season, losing 5-1 on aggregate to Galway in a play-off. With the club facing a spell in Ireland's second tier, this news will come as a welcome boost to the club and to the league as a whole.
