So Freddy Adu was asked by the Blackpool FC Youtube Channel if he is aware of his status as something of a "Football Manager legend" in the UK.

Amused by the question, the Tangerines' new signing said that he receives regular tweets from fans saying the same, and that he wishes he was as valuable as a player in real life.

The video is a preview for a longer interview with the American, who shot to fame as a fourteen-year-old when he signed professional terms with DC United in 2004.

Massively over-hyped when he came to prominence, he never really delivered on is early promise, what with the fact that he plays for Blackpool now. His time as a DC United player lasted two years before he joined Real Salt Lake. A European move eventually came about, but to a lower-profile club than expected - He endured multiple loan spells as a Benfica player between 2007 and 2011, followed more recently by stints at Philadelphia Union and Esporte Clube Bahia of Brazil. He arrived at Bloomfield Road in January, and comes across as a genuinely sound guy in the interview.
