Former Manchester City defender Vincent Kompnay made a sly remark on Cristiano Ronaldo when discussing the Portugal striker.

While Vincent Kompnay may be on BBC as a pundit for the World Cup, the future of Cristiano Ronaldo once again dominated the headlines as Manchester United confirmed he would be leaving the club with immediate affect.

After months of speculation regarding his future, Ronaldo's future became clear it lied elsewhere from Old Trafford following his interview with Piers Morgan, where he slated the clubs owners, former players, the manager and his current teammates.

While it may be disappointing to see it end this way, it is probably the best for all parties, as Ronaldo can focus on finding a new challenge, while Manchester United can focus on the rest of their season.

It quickly became a big talking point, as the saga seems to have come to a close, with the BBC studio discussing his departure during France V Australia.

Vincent Kompany On Ronaldo

When Lineker joked if Vincent Kompany would take Ronaldo at Burnley, he produced a hilarious response to the question, claiming "We need players who can run"

The studio, which contained Alan Shearer, Didier Drogba and Lineker, burst into laughter just before the second half of France and Australia got underway.

As you can imagine, people on twitter couldn't get enough as they enjoyed Vincent Kompany's cheeky remark at Ronaldo.

One of the biggest criticisms that people forget about Ronaldo is he was left out of the Manchester United side as he wouldn't press out of possession, a key factor Vincent Kompany did not forget.

If you were Kompany, you would be laughing at the moment too. In his first season with Burnley, they are currently sitting top of the championship, with just two losses this season, and playing an attractive brand of football not seen at the club before.

Due to Ronaldo's departure, Vincent Kompany may have missed an awkward encounter with the 37-year-old, as the sides are set to meet in the League Cup.
