The hunt for the new Everton manager continues and one of the leading candidates, Vitor Pereira, gave an astonishing interview to Sky Sports news about the interview process for the position.
Pereira is one of the favourites to land the role and held an interview with the club last week - the contents of which he was not shy to share with Sky during an incredible 20 minute interview on Wednesday.
Vitor Pereira gives incredible interview on Everton manager candidacy
Former Porto manager Vitor Pereira is one of the front runners for the Everton job, and has already held an interview with the board at Goodison Park for the post.
In any profession, commenting publicly on the contents of a job interview while the selection process is ongoing would be bizarre - but that's exactly what Pereira did on Sky Sports on Wednesday.
Speaking to Sky Sports News over the phone, Pereira went into incredible detail about the tactical ideas he had presented in his interview with the club, what the response was like from the Everton board, his sentiments towards the club and its history, and his reaction to some of the aggression from the club's fans towards his potential selection.
It's one of the craziest interviews we've ever seen in football.
He opened the interview by detailing the board members who were present at the meeting - confirming that club owner Farhad Moshiri led some of the questioning. He went on to explain that he had pitched an intense pressing game as his leading tactic, should he get the job.
In one of the more humourous moments, Pereira's response when asked what he would do if appointed manager of the club to fix the club's current situation was, "I'm not the manager."
But the most bizarre moment was yet to come. After the Sky presenter asked for Pereira's opinion on how the interview with Everton had gone, the Portuguese coach spoke openly about the feedback he had received.
I think they were enthusiastic with what I proposed to them - an intensive game, a pressing game, a game with possession. We need to give confidence to these players again, we need to approach the fantastic supporters to the team again.
This is what I proposed to them. What I felt in the meetings was that they were very positive with interviewers.
The feedback from the club was good feedback.
Even the Sky interviewer was taken aback by how detailed the answer from Pereira was.
In the past ten years alone, Pereira had previously been approached on two occasions for the Everton job - in 2013 when David Moyes left the club, and again in the winter of 2019. His lack of major achievements since those two approaches has been the root of many of the concerns from Everton fans.
In a moment that's sure to ruffle some feathers with those fans, Pereira questioned some of the critics of his viability for the role. He suggested that most fans who had complained about his potential appointment did not know enough about his career to comment.
He would later bat away criticism about his lack of recent success, as well as blaming his struggles at 1860 Munich on the club's dire financial situation.

That being said, he did go on to speak openly about the graffiti spotted in Liverpool earlier this week, saying he was "hurt" by the hostility from Everton fans, and acknowledged that the situation at the club has not been remotely enjoyable for fans in recent weeks.
Ultimately, the interview with Vitor Pereira concluded with an assertion from his own mouth that he was confident of managing in the Premier League in the future, whether that be with Everton or with another club in the league.
I will move forward with my life - if they want me, they must call me.
This is something that I cannot control. I am a professional, I did my work, and now I will wait for the decision.
I'm sure that now, or in the future, I will be in the Premier League.
The debate over who will be the next man to take over at Goodison Park rages on. Ex-Everton player Wayne Rooney has been billed up by many pundits as a leading candidate, while former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has also been heavily linked with the role in recent days.
We would be incredibly surprised to see either Rooney or Lampard give an interview quite as chaotic as Vitor Pereira gave to Sky on Wednesday, though.
