Those on these shores who have been keeping an eye out on Preston North End's results this season due to their strong Irish contingent were given an absolute treat on Tuesday night as Cardiff City came to Deepdale.
Neil Warnock's men were undefeated with five wins and a draw from their six games in the league so far, but were handed a beating as Preston ran out comfortable 3-0 winners thanks to goals from two Irishmen in the second half.
Former Man Utd man Josh Harrop gave the home side the lead in the first half, before Seanie Maguire bagged his second goal in two games in the 70th minute with a composed finish.
The game was put to bed less than 10 minutes later as Cork native Alan Browne capitalised on a goalkeeping error to float a lovely shot in from all of 45 yards, although it must be said it was another goalkeeping error that saw the ball cross the line.
Browne is someone who has been involved with Ireland squads in recent times but has yet to be given a real chance for Ireland. With David Meyler coming in and impressing in midfield against Serbia it would appear as though his chances of playing time have been reduced, but if anything Meyler's performance outlined the need to try something new, so perhaps he will get a shot in the near future.
If he keeps on scoring from close to the half-way line, he's sure to grab the attention of O'Neill and Keane.
A great night for Preston, a great night for their Irish contingent, hopefully the lads thriving against Welsh opposition is a sign of things to come.
