Alan Pardew Has Explained The Reasoning Behind His Magisterial FA Cup Final Dance

Crystal Palace looked on course to end their 111-year wait for a major trophy when Jason Puncheon gave them the lead with 12 minutes of normal time remaining in the FA Cup final.

Jesus presumably wept at the sight of Alan Pardew's bizarre dance routine after Puncheon fired past David De Gea from an acute angle. The cameras, thankfully, didn't focus on the Palace boss for long. They caught him for long enough, however...

Less than three minutes later, Juan Mata pulled United level after a superb burst from Wayne Rooney. Lord knows what went through Pardew's mind as the ball hit the Palace net, but it's safe to say his face was a picture of almost instantaneous regret.

And even amidst an action-packed game of football, Juan Mata - replaced ahead of extra time by match-winner Jesse Lingard - had just one question for Morgan Schneiderlin on the United bench:

Elsewhere, the reaction to Pardew's 'dad moves' was...well...mixed.

And if you were under the impression, as I was, that Pards' shapes were thrown in tribute to one of his players or members of staff, you are incorrect. According to the man himself, the dance was simply what he felt like doing at that particular moment. Which, to be fair, is kind of great.
