Watch: Allan McGregor Gets Straight Red For Bizarre Karate Kick

This season has not gone the way Rangers would have hoped. After keeping the pace with Celtic for the first couple of months of the campaign, they dropped well behind the Hoops as the season went on.

Neil Lennon's side would secure the title yesterday after their win over Aberdeen, their eighth in a row. That meant Steven Gerrard's side had nothing to play for in their game against Hibernian this afternoon.

They would ultimately run out 1-0 winners thanks to a Jermain Defoe goal, but it was goalkeeper Allan McGregor that grabbed the headlines. He was sent off for bizarrely lashing out at a Hibs player, getting a straight red card.

What was he at? Perhaps this is the frustration of yet another fruitless season coming to the fore.

Rangers have had a very poor disciplinary record this season, with Alfredo Morelos alone being sent off five times. That is something they are going to have improve drastically if they want to put up a proper challenge to Celtic next season.

The drive for 10 in a row certainly looks on at the moment, even if it is uncertain who will be in the dugout at Parkhead next season. Jose Mourinho was surprisingly linked with the job today, but Neil Lennon remains the favourite.

Whoever it is, Rangers will have a big job on their hands to catch them.
