The first thing was to defend collectively as an eleven, to frustrate them, and then to use the ball into the spaces behind the fullbacks. Hit Benteke as early as possible, win the knock down, and get balls into the box.
The weaknesses with Arsenal have been defensively, because they leave Mustafi and Gabriel really exposed. Monreal and Bellerin playing like left and right wingers, the wingers come inside with the centre forward, and they're just left on their own.
So if you can get at them quickly, through midfield and into wide areas, then into Christian [Benteke], you can get it into the box and get chances.
So there you have it.
The Palace players certainly looked like they knew exactly what to expect, and Arsenal played into their hands from there. Mustafi and Gabriel did have a very tough night, but once the away side went behind there was no change of plans at all.
