No matter what stage of life you're at, when Gary Lineker makes a masturbation joke on Match of the Day, there's little you can do other than laugh. You may be an uptight titan of industry, sitting in a button back armchair and sniffing the bouquet on a criminally expensive glass of wine, but if you come across (not a pun) Gary Lineker joking about masturbation in the middle of a discussion about Chancel Mbemba's handball against Man United, you have no choice but to laugh.
We may like to think we're better than that but we're not.
Lineker sat down with Alan Shearer and Didi Hamann last night to cast their eye over the midweek feast of Premier League football when it came time to discuss Newcastle against Man United. Was it a handball or not? We're still not sure and a lot of the problem is that the rules governing handballs appear open to interpretation.
It's supposed to be deliberate or nothing but what's deliberate, is 'making yourself bigger' in the scope of a deliberate handball. Hold on a second, did someone say making yourself bigger? Cue Lineker the comedian.
In other, entirely unrelated news, it emerged that Lineker and his wife are in the process of a divorce. A good joke is all about great timing.
