Watch: Oddly Upbeat Jose Mourinho After United Crash Out Of Europe
By Maurice Brosnan Updated

Jose Mourinho watched his Man United side succumb to a 2-1 loss tonight which ensured the furthest the club has gone in Europe since Alex Ferguson left was 2014, when David Moyes steered them to a quarter-final.

Mourinho was strongly criticised online after the game, but appeared remarkably upbeat in his post-match conference, as shown on TV3. He claimed the result was not "something new for the club."

Mourinho later spoke to BT Sport and claimed the result is nothing unusual, comparing United's situation with Spurs who were also knocked out of Europe last week after losing to Juventus.

It means United's clash with Brighton this Saturday takes on added importance, as it becomes United's only hope for silverware this season.
