Manchester United fans will have been furious with the lack of fight their players showed against Fenerbache on Thursday night in the Europa League, but the most upsetting thing may just be what the club's failures have done to Paul Scholes.

The legendary United midfielder was in the BT Sport studio to watch United lose their second match of the Europa League group stages, and speaking after the game he admitted that the situation at the club is depressing, and has been for years.

He believes the current squad have no hope of winning the Premier League, and will face a battle for fourth place, but he also thinks that the first team squad will look very different in two years time, as Mourinho will make wholesale changes in the next few transfer windows.

Until that happens, according to Scholes, things look bleak.

That's what Jose Mourinho should be showing his players; "Look at what you are doing to Scholesy!"

The lack of leadership, in particular, was glaring while United offered nothing other than a Wayne Rooney wonderstrike in reply to the hosts' two spectacular goals, and Scholes also claimed that with Blind and Rojo playing at centre-back, the team needed to score three.

They're realling struggling to score goals, and to win games of football with Blind and Rojo at centre-half, they look like they need to score three goals because they look like they're going to give goals away all the time.

Poor Scholesy.

It's hard to argue with him, as Mourinho has a serious task on his hands to get this squad where the fans want it to be.
