After Celtic booked their place in the Betfred Cup Final with a 4-2 win over Hibernian on Saturday afternoon, everyone associated with Rangers would have been desperately hoping for another crack at their fierce rivals at Hampden Park.

Motherwell were the opposition and they were determined to deny BT Sport the final they so clearly wanted, but it was Rangers applying most of the pressure in the first half.

Chances were spurned by those in blue, and less than 10 minutes into the second half they found themselves trailing after Louis Moult smashed the ball home after a goal-mouth scramble following a corner.

It would soon be 2-0, but before Moult doubled his tally Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha was sent off after he lost his cool, following some shocking refereeing it must be said.

An angry, angry man, and justifiably as so, as even if the ref missed the initial elbow he absolutely should have stopped play sooner to allow the physio to come on.

Things would get worse for Pedro Caixinha and Rangers, as not 10 minutes later they were 2-0 as Louis Moult briefly took on the form of Henrik Larsson and lifted a delightful lob over Jak Alnwick.

That is sublime, Louis Moult take a bow.

It will be Celtic vs Motherwell for the first title of the Scottish football season, something that fans of the Steelmen will be quick to gloat to BT Sport about we're sure.
