Watch: Post-Match Scuffle Follows Sligo Rovers Win Over St Pats

There were some unpleasant scenes during the aftermath of Sligo Rovers' 2-0 win over St Patrick's Athletic at the Showgrounds last night.

The Bit O'Red landed a knockout blow on St Patrick's Athletic's title chances with a big win to get their own European hopes back on track.

But unfortunately, that was not the headline after a rip-roaring encounter in the North-West.

After the game, RTÉ's cameras caught a dust-up between both team outside the dressing rooms, as tempers frayed.

The night proved to be a damaging one for St Patrick's Athletic as they went three points behind Shamrock Rovers in the race for the Premier Division title.

The Hoops now have a three point lead over the Saints with two games in hand heading into the last round of games.

But the ramifications on the title race took little precedence to some very unpleasant scenes as Sligo ran out winners.

The game also happened to be the first aired by the RTE cameras since May.

Sligo Rovers Victory Over St Pats Marred By Post Match Fight

Highly-rated forward Johnny Kenny gave Sligo the lead from the spot after just three minutes of the game were played.

The teenager slotted home past Viteslav Jaros after a push on Sligo's John Mahon won his side a penalty.

Ryan de Vries then made sure of the win later on in the first-half with a spectacular long-range effort, securing Sligo's first win since July.

De Vries latched onto some poor defending from the Saints on the edge of the penalty area, firing home with a delicious curling strike on goal.

It also proved to be another night of questionable officiating in the League of Ireland. St Pat's supporters were unhappy with the refereeing at the Showgrounds, while with Waterford appearing to have fallen foul of some decisions during their defeat away to Shamrock Rovers. Waterford manager Marc Bircham criticised the referee after the match, saying he 'got the big decisions wrong'.
