This evening's match between Chelsea and Manchester United may not have provided a huge amount of entertainment on the pitch for large periods, but there was certainly fireworks in the studio after the final whistle.

The game looked as though it was about to peter out into a fairly uninspiring 0-0 draw, only for the contest to burst into life in the closing stages.

Chelsea would open the scoring from the penalty spot, with Scott McTominay inexplicably dragging down x inside the box from a corner. Jorginho would convert the resulting spot kick.

However, the drama wasn't finished there.

Casemiro would have the final say in the game, pulling out a stunning header deep into injury time in order to rescue a point for his team.

It was a fair result in the end, although the post-match conversation was dominated by someone who wasn't even in the stadium.

Roy Keane & Gary Neville disagree on Cristiano Ronaldo

Manchester United once again looked like a more dynamic outfit in the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo, who was not available for selection after walking out on the team during the game against Spurs in midweek.

He was rightly punished as a result, although Roy Keane would inexplicably defend him prior to the Chelsea game. He doubled down on that stance after the match, although on this occasion Gary Neville was there to give an alternative view.

Neville believed that Ronaldo was completely in the wrong, also claiming that it was indisputable that Manchester United were a better team without him in it. Unsurprisingly, those comments did not go down well with his former teammate.

Keane: There are players at Man United that have done a lot worse than he has done. Paul Scholes, a great lad, he refused to play a match for Man United, we said nothing to him. Rio Ferdinand missed a drug test, he got banned for eight months.

Neville: You don't think Ronaldo should have been punished this week?

Keane: He should have. You're saying he can't deal with being a sub, last season he was the leading goalscorer...

Neville: Roy, there aren't many Manchester United fans at this moment in time that would have Cristiano Ronaldo in the starting XI.

Keane: I couldn't care less what the fans say, a lot of fans haven't a club what's going on.

Neville: They're better without him, they score more goals without him, and they win more points without him. That's a fact. He has come to the end of his career and Manchester United are a better team without him Roy, he's just go to get used to that...

Keane: You keep going on about how much better United are without Ronaldo. Look at the start of the season when he wasn't involved, look at the Man City game, he would have scored goal today.

Neville: Do you not think they're better without him? Come on.

Keane: In the starting XI? No, I wouldn't say that.

The resulting argument got very heated at times.

Keane would further defend Ronaldo by saying that a number of other players have had similar incidents in the past, saying the manager hasn't handled it well. Neville once again disagreed.

Despite Roy Keane's protestations, it would be a huge surprise to see Cristiano Ronaldo play a major role for the club moving forward. Not only is his attitude clearly a problem, but the team perform better when he's not in it.

A divorce would seem to be the best outcome for all involved parties at this stage.
