Those who were upset that Sean Maguire was not even given a sniff of a chance regarding Ireland's two disappointing results last week would have felt extra smug/furious when the former Cork City star bagged his first league goal for his new club.
Maguire managed to score a lovely solo-goal on his debut for the club in pre-season, and has been delighting the Preston with his performances and work-rate in the first few weeks of the season, but the man himself will be delighted to be up and running in terms goals and hopefully there are many more to come.
The Irishman put his team ahead on 25 minutes after latching onto the end of a Tom Barkhuizen assist, but Preston couldn't hold the lead and conceded an equaliser almost immediately which was the final score of the game.
The joy for Preston fans may have been short-lived, but as goals have become a matter of national concern at this stage, Irish fans will be delighted to see Seanie up and running.

Maguire nearly won it right at the death, but saw his shot tipped over the bar.
That's what we want to see. Earning rave reviews for his commitment and performances is great, but if he can add goals to that as well then things will be looking very positive.
Maguire started up front alongside Jordan Hugill, and if he can hold down that place and notch another goal or two in the coming weeks there will be very little reason for Martin O'Neill to not give him a look when the Irish squad meet up to play Moldova and Wales next month.
