Watch: The Worst Panenka Attempt Of All Time Happened Last Night

Panenkas. They were cool in 1976. There was the brief revival when it was still cool.

Now it's getting annoying, and the misses are getting dumber and dumber. Take the Copa America last night for example. The South American/Central America equivalent of the Euros is also on right now, and the players want to impress and show of their skills.

That doesn't always work out for the best, as you can imagine - and someone can look very very stupid. Like Venezuela's Luis Seijas. With Venezuela already down 2-0 to Argentina in the quarter-finals, Venezuela were awarded a penalty.

Seijas, with the chance to put his foot through the ball and bring his team back into the game decides "Sod it, Imma make a name for myself". In fairness, the world is learning his name this morning and the worst panenka attempt ever.

Worst. Panenka. Ever.

Needless to say, the Venezuelan fans were distraught

There's really no excuse for such a bad effort. Even if Romero had dived, Seijas gives him enough time to get up, have a cup of tea, nap, travel to France to catch a game, come back a save it.

Especially when you consider that Seijas must be a fan of Panenkas. Why would Romero look over to his coaching staff to celebrate in that fashion if it wasn't a pre-planned move not to dive like all other keepers.

Argentina emerged victorious 4-1, whilst in the other Copa America games, Mexico relinquished their title of being world champions by being disgraced by Chile 7-0.
