Wout Weghorst has been absolutely scalded by United fans on Twitter after behind-the-scenes footage from Liverpool revealed the Manchester United player joining his opponents in their age-old tradition of tapping the 'This Is Anfield' sign before the game. Speaking after the game Paul Scholes didn't hold back in his criticisms of the Dutchman either, saying he just doesn't have the quality.

As everyone is well aware now Manchester United had an absolute shocker on Sunday afternoon. Just a week after Erik Ten Hags' side sensationally won the Carabao Cup Final in Wembley they travelled to Anfield to take on a deflated and out of from Liverpool side. However, a disastrous day for United saw them fall by seven goals. The result has had fans and pundits from every corner of the globe criticising just every aspect of the game and team bar an inspired defence of the first half from Gary Neville.

To make matters worse for a team already under the microscope, newly released behind-the-scenes footage from Liverpool shows Wout Weghorst tapping the iconic 'This is Anfield' sign as he heads down the tunnel. The Dutch footballer is reportedly s a childhood Liverpool fan and appears to have lost himself in the moment. Manchester United fans are not impressed.

While Weghorst's indiscretions may have been overlooked had he made a stellar contribution to an away win in Anfield it wasn't to be. Since he arrived at the club in January, Manchester United fans have been questioning if Weghorst is up to the task in Old Trafford, but his recent performances haven't done much to convince them. Sunday wasn't much better for the Dutchman either, after a poor performance Ten Hag subbed him off just before the sixty-minute mark. This seemed to be the last straw for Paul Scholes who slammed Weghorst's quality post-game. Speaking to Premier League productions he said,

You’re talking about a Manchester United No.10 or a centre-forward, he’s in the team to be defensive. He’s the one who runs about and rats about and everybody likes playing with him because he does that. But quality-wise as well you’ve got to have a certain level of quality to play for Man United… it’s not there
