West Ham Owner's Comments On "Lucky" Leicester City's Season Reek Of Bitterness

As far as Premier League owners go, the West Ham duo of Gold and Sullivan are right up there in terms of speaking their mind and not really giving a shit what anybody thinks about it.

We saw it when David Sullivan basically said that Charlie Austin's knees were made of biscuits and that he didn't think he'd ever play consistently again as the former QPR striker was looking for a new club, and when David Gold re-tweeted an opinion that West Ham player Carl Jenkinson was "utter wank", but it was Sullivan again who has made headlines with his comments on Leicester City.

The West Ham owner's intentions were clearly to suggest that a club like West Ham could well have done what Leicester did, but instead it just sounded jealous and bitter.

I know how they’ve done it, they’ve got 11 penalties, lady luck shined on them. They’ve had virtually no injuries. They’ve only used 18 players all season.

They’ve had two players who’ve played out of their skin, scored more goals than they’ve ever scored in their entire lives.

They signed a fantastic midfielder. One of their big signings came good, and that’s how they’ve done it. You don’t see them being massively better than you [West Ham] are.

Players playing well, and good signings, sure how did anyone have a chance?

While we're getting sick of people drawing inspiration from Leicester where it doesn't apply at all, it's also poor form to piss on their parade. Leicester won the league by playing the most effective football with the most consistency in the league, and their ability to keep their stars fit should be praised rather than used as a reason to devalue their achievement.
