Steve Finnan was never missing, it's just that no one was able to locate him.

Yesterday, the Liverpool Echo reported that the organisers of an event to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Liverpool's 2005 Champions League victory were able to contact every member of the squad except for Steve Finnan. The paper event started a hashtag, #FindSteveFinnan, to aid his location.

In the end though, the former Liverpool and Ireland right back was not on some Don Draper-esque hobo tour, he was in London all along.

On Wednesday night's Off the Ball, the Irish Independent's Daniel McDonnell explained that he had made some enquiries regarding Finnan's whereabouts.

I did make some enquiries today and Steve Finnan's in London, enjoying life out of the limelight and not seeking any form of post-football fame or media work or anything like that. I believe he's pretty contented and happy about that.

This could be the the embryo of a TV series where Daniel McDonnell locates missing footballers. I would watch that. Next week Christoper Wreh.

Having said that though, we're still holding on to the possibility that Steve Finnan and Denis Irwin are actually the same person and he's just doing his Irwin thing at the moment.
