Ireland will discover their World Cup playoff opponents when the draw takes place in Zurich this afternoon.

It has been a week since James McClean's goal in Cardiff secured our spot in the playoffs.

Ireland jumped eight places to 26th place in the latest release of the FIFA world rankings, but it was not enough to earn a seeded spot.

We are among the four lowest-ranked sides in the playoff draw, meaning we will definitely be drawn against one of Switzerland (11), Italy (15), Croatia (18) or Denmark (19).

The draw is live on a variety of different platforms: RTE News Now, The RTE Player, Sky Sports News, FIFATV on YouTube, Fifa.com and FIFA's Facebook live.

What time does it get underway?

Coverage of the draw starts at 1pm.

When will the games take place?

The order of the fixtures will be determined by the draw. Once both sides have been drawn from pot one and pot two, they will be placed in a central pot, mixed and then drawn one by one.
