Full Time Pitch-Invasion Turns Ugly After Millwall Beat Leicester

Millwall recorded an outstanding result in the FA Cup this evening as they knocked out Leicester City, who play two leagues above them in the top flight of English football, to book themselves a place in the quarter-finals of the historic competition.

The side with 10 men claimed a late winner to pile more misery on Claudio Ranieri, who is now in the unusual position at having to raise his players' spirits to face Sevilla in the Champions League mid-week after losing to a League One side, as Leicester's miserable run of form continues.

But sadly, the main talking point after the game appears to be the actions of the Millwall fans who, after invading the pitch upon hearing the full-time whistle, headed for the away fans and were seen throwing things into the stands.

Mounted police were forced to intervene, and the scenes are not pretty.

Mindless idiots is right. After such a positive result on the pitch, those scenes are embarrassing for the club and the fans who behaved in a reasonable way. Furthermore, punishment from the FA is likely to follow.

It's all so needless. A good result, a cause for celebration, so why act like that? The mind boggles.

Update: video has emerged of the Millwall fans causing the disturbance.

In the video below, missiles can clearly be seen getting lobbed in the direction of the Leicester fans and mounted police can be seen trying to move the Millwall supporters off the pitch.
