Wout Weghorst has made quite the impact since signing for Burnley in January. Somewhat of a fallback option for the club after the surprise departure of Chris Wood, he has not taken long to adjust to life in the Premier League.

The towering striker has registered a goal and two assists and impressing with his overall general play as Sean Dyche's side have turned their form around.

Weghorst will surely have a big say as the team battle relegation over the remainder of the campaign. As it turns out, his talents are not limited to football.

The Dutchman is apparently a keen darts player, even managing to beat three-time world champion Michael van Gerwen on one occasion.

Wout Weghorst recalls beating Michael van Gerwen in darts

Speaking to Sky Sports, Weghorst recalled how van Gerwen was not all that pleased when he defeated him in front of the rest of the Dutch national team.

Once [van Gerwen] was with the national team for an evening and we played, it was funny.

At the end of the evening we played down from 301 and I beat him. It was crazy, it was really nice.

He was a little bit angry then and wanted to play two more games. Then I had no chance, but we will just stick to the first one.

I did it in nine darts from 301, with two 140s and then through the double directly. It was funny, it was cool.

While van Gerwen may have immediately got his own back, defeating a world champion in front of your teammates must have given Weghorst some buzz.

When he is finished with the Premier League, maybe he will fancy giving the darts equivalent a go? For now, he will be focused on attempting to score the goals to keep Burnley in the division.
