Xabi Alonso Can't Stop Saying Nice Things About Liverpool - This Time He Praises Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool fans would be forgiven for feeling they are on the precipice of great personal tumult. Their side is *whisper it* really quite good, and with Chelsea and the Manchester clubs in various states of flux , they have a genuine shot at the title. (Can you whisper it a bit more quietly?).

Liverpool fans are more attuned to the fact that it is the hope that kills more than most, particularly the incredibly esoteric pain of the 2013/14 title slipping away.

But under Jurgen Klopp, a club that once fell apart in tandem with Daniel Sturridge's body can now afford to leave him on the bench while still rifling in threes and fours.

Klopp's impact has been strong: two cup finals along with just two games; a success founded upon a much more potent attacking threat -  only twice have they failed to score at Anfield (both against Man United) - along with making the defence slightly less leaky.

Klopp has been making changes slowly and steadily, and in the last few weeks, he has trained his focus on the academy. He has capped wages for youngsters, and now he is moving the senior squad away from their current training ground at Melwood to join the academy at Kirkby.

He has impressed Xabi Alonso, who cannot pick up a microphone these days without complimenting the club/make Liverpool fans pine for his return.

Having called Jordan Henderson the "complete midfielder" a couple of weeks ago, and telling Liverpool fans that his failure to win the league at Anfield is one of his greatest regrets, today he's been saying nice things about Jurgen Klopp.

Speaking to the BBC, Alonso hailed Klopp's embracing of the city and the club's culture:

It was a big boost for the city and the club to have such a prestigious manager wanting to manage Liverpool.

He has embraced the culture of Liverpool, the tradition but also the hunger to deliver and to do something important.

They are so, so enjoyable to watch and they are [involved] in great games.

They have beaten Arsenal in London and Chelsea in London as well.

Liverpool head to Selhurst Park and Crystal Palace on Saturday, bidding to make it six wins from seven; aiming to banish ghosts of title run-ins past while they're at it.

Having learned under Rafa Benitez, Jose Mourinho, Pep Guardiola and Carlo Ancelotti, Alonso may well take Klopp's job some day.
