Depending on how old you are, that sticker album that you completed as a kid may be worth a very nice little wedge of cash.

On Saturday night, online auction site Catawiki.co.uk oversaw the sale of a rare, first edition Panini sticker album from the 1970 World Cup. The album was in excellent condition considering it's 45 years old, and the collection was complete, which meant that the item sold for a very handy sum of €2400, believed to be a world record sale for a sticker album.

€2400? If you were around in the old school Panini days, it's probably time you had a root through the attic, and if you're one of the lucky people who's Mammy didn't throw away their completed Premier League sticker albums from the 90s, then HANG ON TO THEM! You may be able to cash them in for a mint in the future.

The website's sports memorabilia expert (what a great job, by the way) Wouter Waaijers had this to say on the historic auction:

It’s very rare to see an album this complete come to auction and is the first I’ve seen.

It’s clear that the value of Panini albums rises every two years during a European Championship or World Cup tournament, there’s a real appetite for iconic football memorabilia such as this.

I know I've got a Euro 96 sticker album lying around somewhere.. Although I'm pretty sure I got frustrated and used my duplicate Stuart Pearce stickers to fill out Bulgaria.
