With five Irish players on the books at Burnley, manager Sean Dyche may be about to add another to his squad before this month's transfer deadline.

Robbie Brady and Jeff Hendrick both joined the club last summer and Jonathan Walters has already made the move to Turf Moor this summer. Also at club are Stephen Wards and Kevin Long.

The Irish Mirror's Paul Hehir reports that Burnley are interested in signing Shamrock Rovers striker Michael O'Connor. The 19-year-old just joined Rovers from Dundalk back in January.

O'Connor, who had previously spent time in England with Bristol City, played in a friendly against Burnley at Tallaght Stadium just last month.

The Mirror say Burnley are 'known admirers' of O'Connor and could make a move before the August 31st deadline.
