The First Irishwoman Home In The Dublin Marathon Is No Younger Than 46

As a 39 year old in Beijing in the 2008 Olympics, Pauline Curley finished in a highly respectable 36th place in a time of 2:47:16.

Seven years later, and well into her fifth decade, she's still trucking on.

Today, she was the first Irishwoman home and ninth in the field overall in the Dublin Marathon. Her time was 2:49:32.

The overall winner in the men's was Ethiopa's Alemu Gemechu in a time of 2:14:01 while the women's winner was Ukranian Nataliya Lehonkova in a time of 2:30:00.

Curley was interviewed by RTE in the wake of winning the national marathon. The leading Irish man was Sean Hehir who completed the marathon in 2:19:47.
