Tipperary forward Noel McGrath will undergo surgery for testicular cancer on Friday. A statement from the County Board on Wednesday morning confirmed that the 24 year old would undergo the treatment before sharing their hope to see McGrath back in a Tipp jersey in due course.

Noel McGrath will undergo surgery for testicular cancer on Friday April 17.

The Tipperary senior hurling squad, senior hurling management, Tipperary County Board and all Tipperary supporters wish Noel well during this time and look forward to welcoming him back in the Tipperary colours in due course.

We ask everyone to respect the privacy of Noel and his family at this time and in the coming weeks.

News of McGrath's illness has obviously come as a shock to many with the Loughmore man having played an active part in the county's run to the Allianz League semi-final this weekend.
