In seven days Monaghan managed to cut the difference on the scoreboard between them and Dublin from 11 points to just one. According to Sean Moran in the Irish Times, a midweek trip to Portugal may have had something to do with their elevated efforts.
With just a few minutes remaining in the first half of the Allianz League semi-final, Monaghan goalkeeper Rory Beggan cut the deficit to the minimum with a monster free from just inside the 65m line.
Opposition players will surely be wary of giving Beggan opportunities in this year's Championship given his lengthy range from dead ball situations.
