The first weekend of the football qualifiers saw four teams run out of road. The biggest shock occurred in O'Moore Park where one Division 2 team now find themselves doing nothing for the summer and in some very undistinguished company.

There was also a moderate upset in Connacht as Sligo thundered into Roscommon, upending the League form-book.

The hurling championship gave us some disappointingly one-sided matches with Tipperary, Kilkenny and Galway blitzing their out-matched opponents.
