Given his physique and catching ability, if we had to pick a position for Aidan O'Shea in American football, it would probably be tight end.

It would appear that is the position which he is attempting to learn for AIB's 'The Toughest Trade' documentary which airs on RTÉ in mid-March.

At the weekend, Roberto Wallace, who went the other way in the swap to play Gaelic football, captained O'Shea's club Breaffy as they won a challenge game against local rivals Parke.

AIB have released the first clip of O'Shea on an American football pitch which features him running a route under instruction from a coach.

We still don't know where exactly O'Shea is training, but it does appear to say Notre Dame in the background. So, there is a chance - and this is pure speculation - that he's possibly training somewhere with a connection to the Fighting Irish.

Also, given that the documentary will be on RTÉ and at the moment a 1916 documentary produced in association with Notre Dame University is being air by the national broadcaster, there is an obvious connection.
