Today was a pretty big day of sport in Ireland. We had two All-Ireland club football semi finals, a round of Allianz fixtures in football and hurling, some higher level college action and of course, the Six Nations double header.

Even though last night was the curtainraiser for the 2017 hurling leagues, hurling hype was pretty low. Now, the Allianz Leagues doesn't get any pre-match bands, so the PA has to rely on a tape or CD. The Cork and Clare players lined up for the pre-match national anthem, and the crowd rose for Amhran na bhFiann

One major problem. What came out over the speakers, wasn't Amhran na bhFiann. It was instead 'Old Comrades', track one from the An Garda Siochana marching band CD.
