Ballyboden St Enda's scored three points in three minutes in the closing moments of the Leinster club football final to defeat Éire Óg.

The Carlow side looked to be on the verge of victory, leading by the minimum with less than a minute of normal time to play. A point from Seán Gannon had put them ahead in the 55th minute.

Substitute Warren Egan scored the equaliser for the Dublin champions with 30 seconds remaining. It was their first score in nearly 20 minutes.

Then, Ryan Basquel hit a sensational point to put Ballyboden ahead by one. For a player who had missed two frees shortly beforehand, it showed real guts.

Michael Darragh Macauley, who had entered the game as a second half substitute, fisted over the final point of the game to give Ballyboden the 0-8 to 0-6 victory.

It was heartbreak for Éire Óg who were playing in their first Leinster final since 1998.

For Ballyboden, the victory gave them their first Leinster title since 2015, a campaign which saw them win the All-Ireland title.
