With less than 20 seconds of normal time remaining in the Leinster club final between Ballyboden St. Enda's and Portlaoise, Aran Waters gave the Dublin champions the lead.

Plenty of time remained for Portloaise to get an equaliser though, with three minutes of added time allocated.

The Laois title holders worked themselves into position for an equaliser, winning a free following a foul by Declan O'Mahoney.

Up stepped Paul Cahillane to kick a left-footed free from 13 metres out.

However, the Portlaoise full-foward failed to wrap his foot around the ball, pushing it to the left of the post. They would have a further opportunity to level matters but again, the ball went to the left of the post.

A minute prior to Ballyboden taking the lead, Portlaoise actually had a chance to take the lead but that opportunity was also sent wide.

It was a cruel end, for Portlaoise, to what was an epic encounter.
