What is it about County Boards that evokes thoughts of dusty old rooms and meetings that result in some hilariously bad decisions? Plenty of good must come out of them but, when we do hear about them, it's more often than not for less than ideal reasons.
Take for example the pickle that the Cork County Board has found themselves in recently. After accepting Brian Cuthbert's resignation as Cork senior football manager, the executive of the county board sat down, put their heads together and came up with a statement that caused quite a reaction.
Cork may have been hard done by in the Munster final but the sour grapes that poured out of the statement certainly didn't do their caused any good. The statement was largely boiled down to 'the ref and whether cheated us out of the Championship' and while that may be a case of cherrypicking the 'best' bits, it's certainly caused some trouble among the other delegates of the county board.
For many, embarrassment was the order of the day and last night, delegates had their chance to get their two cents in and, judging by Red FM's report, it was rather entertaining. The statement was quickly addressed and delegates didn't hold back with their feelings.
'Embarrassment', 'arrogant' and 'appalling' were all mentioned but there was one particularly entertaining summation. The greatest way a farce could ever be described on this fine island of ours:
You wouldn't see it on Fr Ted.
However, it wasn't just the football that was on the agenda. Donal Óg Cusack's much publicised attack on Cork hurling was also addressed and there were some rather interesting reactions from delegates, including a suggestion that, in the entire history of the GAA, Cusack was the first analyst to ever criticise his own county. If that is true then fair play Donal Óg.
Then there was this:

And we're praying someone was filming this moment just to see how many people nodded in agreement.

All in all, it's sounds like a stellar meeting of the Cork County Board.
