Americans On Twitter Are Making The Same Joke About Darren Clarke's Fashion Today

It's safe to say Darren Clarke is not exactly a household name in America. Sure golf fans will remember his heroics at the 2006 Ryder Cup and the 2011 Open, but to the majority of Yanks tuning into this weekend's international hostilities at Hazeltine, Clarke is a dark horse.

Adding to the sense of the unknown around Clarke is the deboinair style reinvention he has unleashed at this Ryder Cup. Once tubby, Darren Clarke's fashion at Hazeltine has turned him into something of a style god. He has yet to be seen without those opaque Ray Bans, his hair is perfectly quiffed and to be honest Clarke might just be the coolest Ryder Cup captain in the esteemed history of this golfing competition. (Which will nicely counterbalance 'the worst Ryder Cup captain ever' title that Clarke still has a claim on as of publication)

It turns out Clarke has a growing fan base in America. In fact, today a lot of Americans are making the same joke about Clarke, saying he's the Dos Equis guy from the famous ad/meme, aka the 'most interesting guy in the world'. See for yourself.

For those unacquainted, the Dos Equis guy was a mythical man of American advertising who billed himself as the 'most interesting man in the world' and possessed the power to make it rain when he was feeling sad, etc.

The Dos Equis guy also spawned one of the more memorable memes of the internet, circa 2008.

Michael Phelps had been billed as the next Dos Equis guy but for now the world has found itself a new 'most interesting man in the world'. And it's DC.
