East Kerry won their second game of the Kerry SFC group stage with a 0-14 to 0-9 victory over Spa at Fitzgerald Stadium on Saturday.

Despite playing just 20 minutes, David Clifford was joint top scorer for East Kerry, along 2014 Footballer of the Year James O'Donoghue, with three points each.

Clifford had missed the divisional side's opening victory of the Championship, a 12-point destruction of 2021 finalists Kerins O'Rahillys, due to injury.

He began Saturday's game against Spa on the bench, but with 20 minutes to play, and his side just holding a narrow lead, Clifford was sprung from the bench by Jerry O'Sullivan.

With his first play of the game, the Footballer of the Year nominee scored a point off his left. His came from the opposite side of the pitch, and was scored off his right after being found in the corner by his brother Paudie. His third point was scored with his left from just inside the 45.

Spa, who have players such as All-Ireland winner Dara Moynihan and 2014 minor captain Liam Kearney, were part of the East Kerry group up to this year. They won the Kingdom's intermediate championship last year while Legion, the club of O'Donoghue, Brian Kelly and Jonathan Lyne, were relegated to the second tier meaning they joined the East Kerry divisional side for this season.

East Kerry will play Dingle in the final round of Group 2.
